A DAY OF NOTHINGS

A morning when my coffee was stronger with the guilt of no meeting to rush to.

A walk in the park, in the many hidden lanes, opening up secrets of time.

A moment by the window, just watching the bougainvillea dance in the sun.

A stretched meal with the satisfaction of a blank mind.

A shower that took as long as my meetings from the previous week, the warm water more comforting than ticking off my to-do list.

A book that told me more than my calendar.

A pause in time to arrange the flowers, if only busy was as sweet as its fragrance.

A candle lit, burning with calmness, a contrast to my alarm clock.

A drink that tasted better while lying down, gulping the urge to check my inbox.

And then came the night that went by as fast as every year, and it was time to hit snooze again.

Can I be busy doing nothing?
